Nippy Niner Trail Update!: The Rivers Edge Trail at the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area is back in operation. The 2017 edition of the Nippy Niner will return to the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.
The Nippy Niner offers two distances - a 9 mile (15K) and a 5.6 mile (9k) option. Both distances are on paved, gravel and off-road trails. The race begins on a gentle gravel road leading to the historic confluence point of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. The 9 miler returns on the undulating River's Edge Trail while the 5.6 miler returns via Madison Ferry Road. The race starts on an open plain winding it's way through the wetlands and migratory bird habitats before the distances split. The 9 miler enters the bottomland forest alongside the Missouri River and returns on gravel roads to the finish. The 5.6 miler turns left onto Madison Ferry Road through the wetlands and onto the gravel road back to the finish. Both distances are Fast, Flat and extra Nippy.
