2014 The Nippy Niner Trail Run

The Nippy Niner is a nine mile (15K) paved, gravel and off-road trail run that begins on a gentle gravel road leading to the historic confluence point of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers and then returns on the undulating River's Edge Trail. The race starts on an open plane winding it's way through the wetlands and migratory bird habitats before entering the dense bottomland forest alongside the Missouri River and returning on gravel roads to the finish. Fast, Flat and extra Nippy.
Registration: You can register online at Chronotrack Timing/Big River. Cost is $35 plus a small online surcharge. Race Day Registration will be available from 7:00 am until 8:30 am. All registrants will recieve a super deluxe Nippy Niner event Shirt. Post race hot drinks and celebratory libations. Start time will be at NINE am (Of course).
Packet Pick Up: You can pick up your bib number beginning at 7:00am at the park. Pre-Race packet pick-up will be at Big Shark Bicycle Company in the LOOP on Saturday, February 1st from 10am - 6pm.

Race Start: Because the Nippy Niner begins with 4 miles of gravel road- the start will be en masse and not staged. Runners will be directed to the start corral at 8:50am.
Distance: Approximately 5 miles of gravel road (Start and FInish), 3 miles of single track, 1 mile of paved path.
Course Description: The first 3 miles of the race will be on a flat, gravel road that leads to a short section of the paved River's Edge Trail. At approximately four miles in runner's will enter the River's Edge Trail- a technical, undulating and windy single and double track trail overlooking the Missouri River. At the end of the trail the runners will briefly race on top of the paved path leading to the final 2 miles of gravel road to the finish.
Support: Runners will have two water/nutrition stations- the first at the confluence prior to entering the River's Edge Trail and a second at the Trail's exit.
Precision Health Group Support: Music and HEATERS (to un-nip) will be provided by Precision Health Group- who will also be providing Active Release Treatments to racers!
Where: Close to STL. The Nippy Niner will begin near the entrance to the Columbia Bottom Convservation Area. The park is located in north St. Louis County at the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. From I-270 you can exit at Riverview Drive and head north. The road to the park changes its name to Stodtman Road almost immediately north of the highway. The park is approximately 3 miles north of the Chain of Rocks Bridge.
When: Sunday, February 2nd, 2014. 9:00 AM Start Time. The Nippy Niner will occur regardless of rain, sleet, snow, ice, mud, stampeding badgers, wild cougars or extreme nippyness. If the event is cancelled due to extraordinary circumstances by the Conservation Department there will be no refunds.
Who: Runners who want to test the limits of their nippyness. The course offers a fast open start to segregate the strong from the weak. Once the race hits the off-road section- the race will be on. Don't get nipped.
Lodging: The Columbia Bottom Conservation Area is about 20 minutes from Downtown St. Louis and 15 minutes from Lambert-St. Louis Airports.

Male / Female Masters (40 years old +) ... 1 Award Each (Masters award winners not eligible for Age Group awards)
Male Clydesdale(200+lbs) under 40 years old and 40+, Athena(150+lbs) under 40 years old and 40+ (1 award per Category). (Clydesdale and Athena award winners not eligible for Age Group awards)
Awards will be presented at noon.
Results:Results will be posted online 24hrs post event.
To be eligible for an award, the runner must complete the entire race course.
This is a mass start event. No early or late starters allowed..
There are no refunds. Entry may be transferred up to 1 week prior to the event.
